It's just a 21 mile drive across James Island and Johns Island from downtown Charleston. The island is an oasis of natural beauty for people looking for a luxurious beach adventure. Kiawah beaches are among the most dog-friendly beaches nearby from Charleston. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach facilities all year round.
Dogs can only be leashed during the winter. The secluded beaches of Kiawah Island are for the whole family. The island also offers a view of sand dunes, preserved maritime forests and swamps where white-tailed deer and turtles abound and seabirds. About 50 miles from Emeline, this radiant 1.5-mile stretch of beach is famous for the beautiful seashells that line the coast. While it's easy to spend all day strolling along the beach, don't forget to visit the many trails available at Edisto Beach State Park. Sullivan's Island Beach is 14 kilometers from Charleston, South Carolina, about 20 minutes by car. Sullivan's Island Beach is a three-mile-long barrier island with free on-street parking next to it.

The next closest would be Folly Beach, a 30-minute drive from the airport near Charleston.
