While this writer isn't a fan of Myrtle Beach, the trip from Charleston SC

Myrtle Beach is quite pleasant. The beach is a wide stretch of soft sandy shoreline that spans 4.5 miles, inviting you to lay down your towel and relax under the South Carolina sun.

While Charleston's beaches are beautiful on their own, there are some local spots you should definitely visit during your beach getaway. As for a quiet beach with less activity near Charleston, I would probably recommend Sullivan's Island. Hop on a canoe or kayak to explore the salt marsh that separates this island from the mainland, or get ready to spend a day in the beach. While Charleston County has three beautiful beaches to offer, there are some other great beaches nearby that you can visit during the day.

While there are many hotels in the area, most people prefer to stay in a vacation rental during their trip to Charleston because these types of properties offer more space, are closer to the beach and give you the option of preparing your own delicious food where you are staying. Seabrook Island Beach, a hidden gem off the coast of South Carolina, offers an exclusive escape to a world where the beauty of nature remains untamed and free. This beach is just 15 miles from downtown Charleston passing through James Island in the aptly named Folly Road. Myrtle Beach is an example of entertainment and relaxation on Grand Strand, a gorgeous 60-mile stretch of soft sandy beaches along South Carolina's Atlantic coast.
